Orange & Blue
I stand vulnerable as a birch
and, as expected, am stripped
of skin for your makeshift flame,
an orange hurt; a blue sentiment.
Bare, battered as a result of time
and you; peeling, peeling, not
once ardent until the other pale,
tear-pruned in tepid bath water.
A candle smells of damp trodden
leaves, has burned seventy-two
hours and only now, the deadened
scent leaves me unsatisfied; ill.

I’m excited for folks to hear the re-worked tracks and entirely new ones. They bang. To those of you who remain interested or want to get interested, we’re planning a release for June. Half a year, but it’ll be here sooner than we all think.

I got lost staring at a visiting fly. You swatted it.
I swatted your now blackened eye, hoping to myself
the dead fly’s the way god thought of you.
And I’m the bad guy?

"…and not a single om was given that day."
A photo for those days where I’m saying “fuck it” and need to remember to acknowledge who and what keep me grounded.

You’re the focal point of my eight by eleven.
I sift through the grains of expired film, like trying
to find the first of four corners in a puzzle,
and I barely make out your ardent silhouette—
but I do.
This collage taunts my loose floorboards and exposes
its verity, that is, the thumb-tacked bedroom wall
history unbeknown to me. So much context
is lost in the fiber-based scraps I wish I knew—
and I did.

Like a hollowed trunk bedded with needles,
I find forest green rest in your pine bed.
The moon rises early this time of year;
shines a little brighter, for just a while
longer for her counterpart. It’s clockwork.
Dress me in oil and settle into me; right.
A cog in our system. It’s the only
way to make sense of the sun and the moon
and how, in sync, for us, they continue
to shed light on why it is that we work.

Childish Gambino showed up in Toronto today. He tweeted that at five in the evening he’d be playing some music in Trinity Bellwoods park. People hella came out and it was one big dope listening party. Q&A afterwards was funny and if you weren’t close enough, you really had little chance of hearing his response. I think it’s so dope though to show up in a city — he’s done this in other cities as well and will continue to — reach out to his supporters, and have them come bug out for a couple of hours in a park downtown. Not every artist has the means or money to do that but he does, and to see it come in that form is humbling and hella rad.
